TLG Troubleshooting

Synopsis: TLG traffic lights work by using GPS as opposed to radio communication like TLD traffic lights. This article will help isolate some of the issues you may encounter.

1. Power on the controller and go to Status

2. Check the issue and troubleshoot accordingly, see below: 

Memory: Potential flash corruption, replace controller entirely.

Controller not powering on: Check battery voltage. If batteries are OK, check all connections. If everything is OK, controller is defective.

GPS Error: Check Garmin GPS puck (in red lamp) and ensure power light is on. If everything is well connected, make sure the unit is outside and not being obstructed by anything (trees, overpass, etc.).

Downcounter: Will always be N/A if you do not have one. If it is not working, check connections on the back of the card. If possible, swap it with the countdown timer on your other set of traffic lights. 

IPS: The IPS controls the usage of your batteries. Make sure the card is getting power. If it is and is still giving you an error, the card is defective and needs to be replaced.

Lamps: Check the power connectors on the back of the card. If everything seems good, the card is defective and needs to be replaced. You can test it by swapping out with the lamp cards from another traffic light.
