TLG Programming

Synopsis: TLG traffic lights work by using GPS as opposed to radio communication like TLD traffic lights. 

• Level: Easy
• Time required: Will vary depending on experience but should take roughly 5-10 minutes.
• Additional equipment required: None

1. Insert the blue synchronizer into the first TLG, power it on, and select Main on the controller

2. Select Settings (wrench icon), enter the default password, and then go to Programming

3. Program the traffic lights by using one of the 4 options

Note: It is highly recommended to test the work zone to get accurate times

• By distance: Enter the number of feet between the lights (minimum distance is 50 ft.). The calculated time is based off 100 vehicles per hour at a speed of 50 km/h (30 mph).

• By time: Select how long you want the main green light, the red lights (for clearance) & the secondary green light

• Advanced: Select the speed of the work zone, how many vehicles pass per hour & the distance between your lights and the controller will recommend times. The default setup is 50km/h (30 mph), 100 cars per hour.

• Preprogrammed Code: Codes that are already programmed according to traffic volume (Low, average, high) that give you different recommended green and red times.

4. Remove the blue synchronizer, bring it to the second TLG, insert it, power on the unit and select Secondary
