SP-710V DFI Error Troubleshooting

Synopsis: If your touch screen shows an error code that says DFI Error, it indicates an issue with one of the display cards located inside the sign case. This error can prevent you from activating a speed on your sign.

  • Level: Easy
  • Time required: Will vary depending on experience but should take roughly 5-10 minutes.
  • Additional equipment required: Philips screwdriver, spare display card, spare data cables

1. Power on the controller and press the Settings (wrench) icon, then Diagnosis, then Display test

How the Display Test works:

1.1. Starts on the left display card

1.2. Data will go through each display card and light up the LEDs on them

1.3. When the data gets to the end of the row, it will hit the end line jumper and data will be sent back to the communication card

1.4. If there is an error with one of the display cards, the data will not reach it and therefore it will not light up

1.5. It is important to have the end line jumper connected at the end of the row

2. Solutions to fix DFI error

2.1. Replace the bad display card with a known working display card and your Pixel Error will go away. If you do not have any spares, you will need to purchase some

2.2. Ensure the end line jumper is connected at the end of the row

2.3. If card #1 is defective, it is normal that card #2 does not light up, as the data is not making it due to the bad display card
